Description
Ubu, 27 1/2" very nice Shinto katana by Teruyuki. He was one of the better makers from this school, and is rated 40 points in Hawley’s. Nice suguha hamon reminds us that the Shinto Takada group learned their sword making from Matsuba Motoyuki. Motoyuki learned under the first Hizen Tadayoshi, therefore the similarity of the shape, as well as the hamon. This sword has a very nice original shape, as it has never been shortened. Textbook in appearance, this is a very nice Shinto sword. There are no flaws and the hamon and boshi are very healthy. Suguha with nice activity done in nie-deki with a fine itame-masame hada. Tang is ubu 1 hole in very good condition. In WW2 Gunto mounts, this is a “fresh” sword in old polish. It could use a professional polish one day, but all the characteristics are clear. An original nice gold foiled habaki also accompanies this sword.
