Description

Beautiful Wakizashi on consignment attributed to “Izumi no Kami Kunisada”. Kunisada was one of the most well known makers from the Osaka Shinto School. He is known as “Oya Kunisada”, and is the father and teacher of the great Inouye Shinkai. Although unsigned, this sword exhibits all of the characteristics of Kunisada or possibly Shinkai. Thick nie done in notare gunome make up the hamon. Ashi are very well done in nie, and the hamon is bright. The jigane is a very beautiful itame lined with lots of ji nie. Chikai are seen in abundance. The boshi is done in Soshu style, with lots of hakkikake. This is a very nice blade, and if it were signed, it would be 3x’s the price.
