Jo-saku wakizashi signed "Izumi no Kami Kaneshige". Beautiful temper of O-gunome midare done in nie-deki. Long ashi with kinsuji and clustrs of nie make up a very vibrant hamon. Well mixed itame grain pattern shows very nice chikei. Ji-nie is present.Kaneshige was well known not only for making beautiful swords, but for his cutting ability as well. There are many swords of his that have cutting test done on them, in addition to many swords made by him that are Juyo-Token. In some circles, it is said that Kaneshige was a teacher at one time for the famous Kotetsu. This can be considered as their styles are very similiar if ones studies closely.The tang is slightly shortened, but the complete signature remains intact. Signature is guaranteed genuine to pass shinsa at the NBTHK if submitted through us up to one year after purchase. In fresh polish and new shirasaya.
