Very
nice well made kozuka by Yoshioka Inaba no Suke. The Yoshioka often
made fittings for Daimyo and Hatamoto classed samurai. In fact
many of the very nice Daimyo tachi mounts that you see that are
done in shakudo nanako with the family mons are made by the Yoshioka.
Often mistaken for Goto work if unsigned, people outside of Japan
often make this mistake. The Yoshioka were very skilled and well
thought of for their work. This is a rare piece in the fact that
it is a signed example. The workmanship rivals that of any Goto
mainline. Well done in shakudo, gold and silver, the design of “Matsubiki” is
well represented. Matsubiki is a baby pine tree , and often symbolizes
a new beginning to a long life. This theme is very popular for
the birth of a important individual, or for the new year. Shakudo
background is very well done, and the shakudo grade is very high.
In mint condition with a Tokubetsu Hozon paper. Temporarily priced
special to sell as we took this piece in on trade. |
