Description

Nice mounted katana made special at a shrine. Shrine blades tend to be of better quality as they were either custom ordered, or to please the Gods. Now, of course no respecting legitimate sword smith wants to get the Gods angry at him, so we will just assume that most blades made at Shrines are definitely better than the average. This blade was made at the Bugei Hachiman Shrine in Gifu prefecture. Kanenori was a well known Gifu area swordsmith who has his roots extend to well known gendai smiths such as Kojima Kanemichi and Kojima Kanenori. The blade is a well made gunome midare robust blade. The hamon is done very nicely in ko- nie and has plenty of ashi. The jigane is a well knit ko-itame and is flawless. The balance is excellent, and the blade is ready for use if needed. Accompanied with a very nice mount done in the Higo style (all kanagu is contemporary), but it has a very nice tsunagi with a well written tsunagigaki that tells about the blade, the tsunagigaki matches the sayagaki that encases the blade.
