Description

Nice combnation of a late koto blade mounted in complete handachi mounts. Usually because of all the pieces used in a handachi mount, sometimes 1 or 2 are missing when the sword was neglected. But in this case, all of the fittings are present, and in good condition. The blade is a unsigned ubu late kot wakizashi most likely from the Bizen School. The gunome koshibiraki hamon is very classic of the type used by Sukesada and Norimitsu. Fine activity is seen in the form of nie worked kinsuji that is seen throughout the hamon. The itame mokume hada is done in the typical style of late Bizen. There are some very very minor openings (You have to look really hard with a loop to see them). The mountings are in very nice condition, the fuchi kashira, koiguchi, kojiri all match in the handachi style made of copper. The menuki are wrapped in an old wrap and are of flowers with their stalk. The tsuba is a nice iron plate with fine sukashi of a wisteria plant known as "Fuji". The kozuka is a brass type with a design of what looks like a view from above of farmland. The lacquer is a nice cut deer hair style that looks very nice. The habaki is solid silver with a nice design of waves.
