Description

A very nice sword in WW2 Gunto mounts. A very nice example of a healthy Shinto katana that is in original shape (never shortened or modified) This excellent katana is made by Bungo Munekage. Now many people hear the word Bungo and automatically think that it is not a good sword. Why I have actually no idea how Bungo blades got a bad reputation in the US. In Japan, they are very appreciated, and as some, like this smith worked very closely with Omi Daijo Tadahiro. In fact there are examples in which they jointly made the sword together. Munekage shows us his skill when we see this blade. The strong shape, wide body with an extended kissaki all look like a blade any samurai would be proud to wear. The hamon is a very nice gunome midare. The nie is done very well, and the workmanship rivals any Jo saku Hizento. The jigane is a tight knit ko itame that would look much more better with a professional polish. The tang is in absolutely excellent condition, never altered in any way.
