Very nice set of Daisho mountings. Daisho are the true status symbol of the samurai as only the warrior class could wear the 2 blades legally. This set is in very nice condition, and would be a great item to display on a nice sword stand.
Tsuka: Both are murasaki colored wrapped tsuka, fuchi kashira Soten style of samurai done with gold on shakudo nanako ground unsigned. Menuki are also of samurai, but as they are under the wrap it is difficult to see the exact theme. Both tsuka in mint condition.
Seppa: All seppa are in very good condition and are GOLD foiled.
Tsuba:
Dai - signed Soten saku (signature needs study) iron with design of sages done in fine gold detail with some copper.
Sho - iron plate also with design of sages signed Mogarashi Nyudo Soten Saku (signature also needs research) in good condition.
Both tsuba have the same high level gold foiled rim (see pic) look at the detail and you can see the quality level of just the rim work!
Scabbards: Both sayas in mint condition with lacquer of a very light brown ishime surface. Called cha ishime it means literally “tea colored stone surface” kurikata are horn, with gold shitodome. Sageo are matching deep blue color. Some very small chips (and I do mean small!!!) around kozuka pocket area. But that shows that this is the original old lacquer!
