Restoration

The Japanese sword is one of the most beautiful pieces of art in the world.  However, since the swords are made of carbon steel, they are prone to rust easily.  As many experienced collectors know, a well polished sword is unbelievably gorgeous.  The temperline, along with the activity and grain structure that was once hidden due to poor condition comes to life after a good professional polish.

Because every sword is in a different state of condition, we can quote restoration services more accurately after seeing the actual sword, but can also give rough estimates from photos either sent by e-mail or the old fashioned way.

We also offer different grades of polish as there are many different grades of sword quality out there in the world.  We have a variety of levels of craftsmen to choose from, anything from low level polisher (mainly students in training for lesser swords) to Mukansa or higher level polishers for more important blades.   Habaki making , handle wrapping, shirasaya as well as some lacquering services are also available through our contacts in Japan.

Certification services are also available from either the NBTHK, NTHK or Tousogu Hakubutsukan.
