| Classic Mainline
Goto Kirimon menuki. As seen in many books, this type of menuki are
made by the Goto family for use in formal high level mountings. Often
used as ends for the mekugi, these menuki bearing the “Kiri” mon were
only used by high class retainers or Daimyo. NBTHK paper to “Goto”
means that they are from the mainline meaning that they were made
by one of the masters, but they are not sure which one. In very good
condition, please do not confuse these with copies made by side line
schools. Mainline master works are few, but very much sought after. |
