Description |
| Izumo Yoshitake was a
well received swordsmith from the shinto period. He did swords in
the style of the Horikawa School. As is the case for this katana,
it is done in the Soshu style similar to that of Horikawa pieces.
There is much activity in the swords hamon, kinsuji, ashi with nie
make up the activity. There is chikei in the itame ji with ji nie..Very
small slight openings in the shinogi and in ji. What is an interesting
point with this sword, is the signature. This is a rare mei by this
smith, as it is done both in kanji as well as hiragana. The top part
of the signature is done in normal kanji, by his name is signed in
hiragana script giving the signature a very "poetic" feeling.
Tang is very slightly shortened, but with the signature all intact.
In Japanese polish with shirasaya. NBTHK Certified. |
