Very nice
original condition tachi mounting. All parts are there and
matching. All of the sword furniture are made of copper and
silver with the tortoise shell design similar udes by Nobuiye.
It is quite hard to find a original tachi mount in such good condition
that is still complete without any missing parts. This tachi
mount was made around the 1800’s and still has the original
lacquer and handle wrap in very good condition. The menuki
are large copper oars, and are well done. The fuchi kashira,
tsuba, koiguchi, hangers and scabbard fittings all are ensuite and
in good condition. The lacquer work is amazingly in great
condition, and is a very thick stone surface design with mother
of pearl inlay. This type of lacquer is very good, as it is
very thick and even. The lacquer is also not dried out as
many are, and looks as good as the day it was worn.
The blade is a Nagamaki Zukuri and signed Norimitsu. This
signature has not yet been evaluated by us. The blade is definitely
from the Koto period, with a hamon of mixed gunome midare with activity.
There are some openings in the blade, but remember it is from the
Koto period and is old. There is a lot of activity in the
hamon, ashi, yo and kinsuji. The tang is one hole, signed and dated.
For those collectors that want a beautiful tachi in very good condition
at a very reasonable price.
