Description
Fine Shinto katana by one of the famous smiths from the famous Kishu Ishido group. Swords from this group include many famous makers of high quality. Sukekuni is one of those from this group that have a very nice rating for sharpness. Blades from this group are usually of very good quality, well made and have a very nice shape. This blade made by Sukekuni is just like those type of swords expected from a maker from this group. The long nice shape with the very nice nie deki suguha based hamon make this a very pleasant sword to own. The grain is a very well knit itame with masame, ji nie is present with chikei. The sword is in an old but good polish, and maintains a very stately shape. The boshi is ultra healthy showing that it has never been damaged or broken. There is some fine activity of hakkikake done in nie as well. The blade is very healthy with no flaws. This blade came from an old collection here in California and is encased in an old shirasaya with a very nice silver habaki. NBTHK green paper.
