Iron Tsuba of a Samurai on Horseback

Item #1327

$350.00

Description
A nice mokko shaped Iron tsuba with a design of a samurai on horseback in wavy waters with a fields and a pine tree serving as a backdrop. This design looks to be depicting the battle at Ishibashi Yama in the Gempei War in the late 1100's, in which Minamoto Yoritomo hid in a hollow tree and eventually escaped by sea. Iron plate has the design carved out of the surface, with copper and silver used for the main subject and gold for the accents. In fair condition, this tsuba would be nice mounted on a sword.
